On December 18th the Ministry of Energy held XI International Conference Power Ring titled „Prospects of Polish economic developmen in the contect of European requirements”. Virtual Power Plant was a partner of this event.
During the Power Ring there was a discussion about the needed investments, the effectiveness of their implementation and development of supporting technology and innovation in the energy sector, while bearing in mind the funding sources and opportunities for effective implementation of such projects. It should be emphasized that the transformation of the sector has to meet the expectations of the market – we should not only meet the needs of customers in terms of comfort wile maintaining relatively low energy prices but also provide support for the country’s energy security.
The conference held three sessions. Grzegorz Nowaczewski, president of Virtual Power Plant, took part in a session concerning costs to implement low-carbon solutions. He introduced the concept of virtual power plants as an alternative to conventional power plants. He also mentioned the first Polish virtual power plant created by VPPlant [presentation].
Date of the Power Ring conference coincided with two important events related to the energy market: the end of the COP21 climate conference in Paris and the creation of Ministry of Energy in Poland. During the opening ceremony of the conference, participants held a moment of silence in memory of Krzysztof Żmijewski, one of the most renowned energy experts in Poland who died in October of 2015.
